Edmonton's Eddie Toonflash has been a fixture in the gay nightclub scene for close to a decade. He started out like anyone else who ever dreamt of becoming a DJ, in his bedroom with two Technics 1200's, a mixer, a few records and a lot of determination. Having always been musicaly inclined, beatmatching came quickly. He then got to work on playing out wherever he could get booked.
After about a year of playing Edmonton's club and afterhours scene, Eddie set his sights on bigger pastures. After meeting Dj Dickey Doo (a personal inspiration) he ended up moving to Vancouver to see what a "world-class" city could offer.
Eddie became a Saturday night resident @ The World Afterhours, (Vancouver's only legal gay afterhours at the time), and was schooled by some of Vancouver's best Dj's such as Dickey Doo, Todd Omotani and Leanne. He was also fortunate enough to meet and play alongside world class Dj's Honey Dijon, Markus Wyatt and J Dub to name a few. Eddie got involved in as many club nights as he could sqeeze into. Sundays @ Shine (Nice) and the after party at Section #3 (D'tention), Thursdays @ Milk (Tranarexia) and guest slots @ The Oddysey, Tokyo Lounge, The Freehouse and the infamous Cruisy T's boat cruises. Eddie was also invited to Dj Vancouver's annual Fashion Cares and was the official "in-store" Dj for Armani Exchange on Robson St.
Returning back to Edmonton in 2005, Eddie decided to go back to school, where he is currently in his last year @ NAIT taking Advanced Interactive Web Design. He has been playing around the city, but has longed for that "big city" vibe which Edmonton has been lacking in a big way. However, things seem to be looking up with the opening of PLAY Nightclub and the "BEERS FOR QUEERS" night at The Empress Alehouse.
His mission now is to help bring Edmonton up to date with what's happening in today's club scene.
